Good Morning!!

The 2nd round has begun, and it is a beautiful day at the John F. Stahl Memorial 4-Ball.

We'll be having BBQ pork sandwiches for lunch today, catered by Ken Crotwell and his Foodie's staff. Ken will also be cooking tonight's steak dinner beginning at 6:30. Additional dinner tickets can be purchased at the front counter.

Calcutta starts around 7 pm depending on the afternoon group finishing.

See you soon!!

The more things change...

Brian Haley and Charlie Keeton continued their torrid run through the Stahl by firing a 7 under 65 in the first round. Going back to last year, that is their 3rd straight 65 and puts them 30 under for their last four rounds.

But they are not alone.

2006 champs Monty Hilton and Mike Stringer matched the defending champs pace. Denny Howell & Steve McKay and Mike & Michael Gregory are one shot back.

Hope y'all had a good time today. Breakfast starts at 7:30. Pulled pork sandwiches for lunch. Dinner starts about 6:30. Calcutta at 7.

BTW, there were NO scats out today, so everything depends on tomorrow.

Round 2 pairings now available

Pairing for the 2nd round of the John F. Stahl Memorial 4-Ball are now available here.

Scores are kinda high. Hmmm......

Leaderboard Update

Early first round scores:

Pope/Pope -2 8
Lindigrin/Johnson -2 8
Childress/Abraham -1 5
Thomas/Sanders -1 5

And they're off!!

The 2009 John F. Stahl Memorial 4-Ball is officially underway. The weather is a little cool, but the sun just came out. Looks like a Chamber of Commerce kinda day.

Got some good video of the 1st tee. Should provide some laughs later on.

We're ready...

ARE YOU?!?!?

Twas the night before the Stahl...

Darkness has set in, and the next available light means the start of the 2009 John F. Stahl Memorial 4-Ball. Hope everyone is ready for a big weekend.

We had a lot of rain here today. Hopefully, we won't get any overnight and we can set the course up properly. Some of our last day prep was interrupted, so we may look a little rough around the edges, but I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the golf course. Kudos to Superintendent Peter Vincent for a job well done. Shake his hand (or buy him a beer) if you see him.
Tourney notes:
  • We are playing up in the fairway one scorecard length. All other USGA rules apply (including 14 clubs!!).
  • Breakfast starts at 7 instead of 6:30 due to the later starting time.
  • Even if you have pre-paid, please stop by the registration table in the morning to pick up your goody bag.

Rest well, and I'll see you all in the morning!!!

Weather update

It's raining.

Thank goodness it's only Thursday.

The weather forecast is perfect for the weekend though. Check it out here.

Calcutta Darkhorse??

Just got through playing seven holes with this guy:

Suffice it to say I was 5 down.

Who is he?

He is Corey Mays, LOGC Club Champion 2007.

He's playing with John Oxley, and you'll be seeing their names on the front page of the leaderboard all weekend. I'm not predicting a victory for this newcomer, but...

Website Up and Running

Finally got the website up and running. Our newly redesigned website is in the final stages of coming together, and I thought it would be ready by this week. Alas, I'll have to wait a few more days. I did, however, get the Stahl site running here. Results from last year are there, too.

Friday tee times now available

Tee times for the first round of the John F. Stahl Memorial 4-Ball are now available here.

Of Fairways and eMail

We finally got our new fairway mower today. Don't ever let anyone tell you that mowing fairways with a zero turn is a good idea. I appreciate everyone's patience, and after looking at #1, it did 'em some good to thicken up a little.

Here's a look:
